Media education and its role in confronting the risks of the information epidemic among university students in light of the changes of the digital age

Abstract

      This study seeks to  highlight the importance of awareness of the subject of media education as a mechanism for qualifying female students of the Early Childhood Department by providing them with the skills of conscious of  various modern media and communication technologies, which allows them to confront the dangers of the information epidemic and adapt to the requirements of the digital age.
The study also relied on the descriptive approach by conducting an electronic questionnaire on a sample. The number of this sample was (85) female students from the department of Early Childhood Education at Shaqra University.
The most important results are: There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α = 0.05) in the estimates of female students of the early childhood Department regarding the study of media education and it's role in confronting the dangers of the information epidemic in light of the variables of the digital age due to the variables (school level, age, and knowledge of media education).
The researcher recommends that specialists in Saudi universities prepare studies concerned with monitoring the tasks and roles of media education to address all challenges, achieve intellectual and social security for students.
