Abstract

Abstract
The current study is part of the analytical descriptive studies, and seeks to describe the relationship between child demography and marital stability in the countryside of Egyptian society. The child is one of the important variables closely related to marital stability and responsible for the high divorce rate, and the main goal was to reveal the extent to which the demographic factors related to the child, which are: the type of child and the number of children, on marital stability. The study relied on the methodological collaboration between the methods and tools provided by anthropology that are useful in explaining the phenomenon qualitatively, and on the statistical methods and ways proposed by demography that are useful in describing the phenomenon quantitatively. The most important results of the study indicate that the presence of the child in the family enhances the affection between spouses and leads to the stability of the marital relationship. The impact of the child on marital stability does not involve the dimension of the child's presence only, but consists of a set of child related factors such as: the gender of the child and the number of children in the family. The study recommends providing targeted programs and educational courses through various media, with the aim of raising awareness about the role of the child in stabilizing the marital relationship.
